A product to be part of all BBC online products. A global-local proposition

In 2012 we set out on a big UX challenge. To design a product that would exist above and within all BBC products.
We had to create a platform for users to keep their favourite BBC pages, make it accessible from everywhere within the company's ecosystem and with a solid persistent interface that would not ask the user to decipher it every time he or she changed their website.
This meant dealing with a conflictuous situation whereby you have to develop an identity and patterns that are consistent with BBC's global language, consistent in itself and across all its manifestations in each BBC website and at the same time, belong and feel part of each website. BBC Favourites had the challenge of being global and local at the same time.
